New Series: ASPSMS + Outlook Mobile Service Case Studies  ASPSMS now supports the Outlook Mobile Service, in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 that you use to create and send text messages to a mobile device from within Outlook in a manner similar to e-mail messages. The Outlook Mobile Service seamlessly integrated in Microsoft Outlook 2007. No Plugin and no Addon has to be installed. You need only your ASPSMS Userkey and Password. During the next months, we will show examples for the sucessfull everyday usage of the Outlook Mobile Service. | ||||||
Outlook Mobile Service -  Coordination and communication with the chauffeurs isn't as simple as one might think. It's getting costly if you have to inform your drivers via mobile phone about changes in their tours. Did the chauffeur understand the address correctly? The Connection is bad, or the driver is unloading at a customer and has no time to catch the call. There's a traffic jam on the A1 after Murten, and four artic lorries are heading towards the Geneva Motor Show - call each of them?Luthold Logistics AG from Switzerland faced such problems after Luthold jr. took over the lead of the company three years ago. He managed to nearly double the number of lorries - from 12 to 23 - the company owned, but that also doubled the described problems Microsoft Outlook 2007 Mobile Service turned out to be the perfect solution for the coordination and communication with the drivers: E-mails can be forwarded to the drivers - no more annoying address dictation. An SMS reaches the recipient and can be reread. The chauffeur doesn't need to make notes whilst he's driving down the motorway. It's easy to reach a whole group. SMS are fast, reliable and unambiguous. Fact: The short and concise communication by SMS results in simple an efficient coordination of truck drivers.  As main instrument of communication, the Outlook Mobile Service is used in combination with ASPSMS.COMThank to the Autoreply Function of the ASPSMS System messages can be sent to Outlook. The answer messages get sent to the Microsoft Outlook 2007 Inbox. The logistician stores mobile numbers of his chauffeurs in the Microsoft Outlook 2007 address book. Additionally he holds groups by region. Example  The first shift at Luthold Logistics AG starts at 4:30 am. The drivers know their tour. They get informed about changes in their standard tours via SMS the night before. From the logistic point of view the early shifts are usually no challenge. At 7 am most chauffeurs have finished their tours and the people from day shift arrive at the premises. After a short briefing the drivers get the necessary documents and off they go...Rene is taking orders and monitoring the crew of chauffeurs. He gets RSS-Feeds of the current traffic situation into Microsoft Outlook 2007 and forwards important information to the concerning drivers: RSS received: 2.5km traffic holdup on A1 towards Geneva between Murten and Payern. Right click the RSS traffic report and select "Forward as Text Message ..." Chose the concerning group in the address book and click "Send".The information has reached the drivers 5 seconds after Rene got the RSS-Feed, with just a couple of mouse clicks. SMS-OUT (to the address group ‚Westerly Switzerland'):2.5km traffic holdup on A1 towards Geneva between Murten and Payern. As Autoreply is activated the chauffeurs can answer the message if they like to. The ASPSMS System forwards the answers as e-mail to Rene. SMS-IN: G'day rene, cant you send us a joyful message for a change? Greets sylvia SMS-OUT: There is not a single congestion in the rest of Switzerland ;-) SMS-IN: There you are! Kisses During the course of the day Rene accepts new jobs or existing ones change. While he confirms the order on the phone he's writing an SMS to Richi with Microsoft Outlook 2007.SMS-OUT: Print Shop Wüst, Tschudirein 12+13, 7324 Vilters (Platform behind the House) 0.5 Pallet - Envelopes. Greetings Rene SMS-IN: Is it urgent? I'm having a coffee. I'll be there in 30mins. Ok? SMS-OUT: No hurry, they are impressed we're coming before lunchtime :-) Cheers At 10:18 am Rene sends a short confirmation e-mail to the print shop and at 10:45 am the envelopes are on their way to Zürich. Thanks to the seamless integration of the Outlook Mobile Service, Microsoft Outlook 2007 works as perfect communication centre at Luthold AG. Since Luthold AG communicates via SMS with their chauffeurs about 50 phone calls to cell phones can be saved each day including the advantage of: Promptness, Reliability and unambiguousness.
